      “Isabel. I want to kiss you,” he said. He was using that velvet voice again.
      She smiled back, like the wanton woman she was starting to feel in this dimly lit room with this very attractive, powerful man.
      Sebastian pulled Isabel in closer to him and then kissed along her neck. She could feel sensitive, wonderful shivers running down her spine. He cupped the back of her head in his hand, forcing her to look straight at him. His lips came down on hers, hard. Before she could help herself, she was opening up to him, breathing his name.
      He broke away from the kiss. “Undress, Isabel.” 
      “I . . . I will need a maid. To help me.” 
      Smiling, he said, “I’m the best you’ve got, so turn around.” 

      Slowly Isabel turned. Sebastian carefully unbuttoned each of the pearl buttons and then turned her around. With both hands he slid the dress from her shoulders, until it fell down to her waist.

Miserable and drowning his sorrows he is rescued by Burrows, who knows his friend has to pull himself together for the sake of his unborn child, whose existence Sebastian has yet to discover.

Will Sebastian be able to find the courage to go back to Isabel and win her heart, or will she turn him out like the rat he’s been?

I loved this book! I normally don't read this sort of book but i found myself not wanting to put it down. I loved Isabel, such a strong character despite what she had to endure. I even liked Sebastian although i really wanted to knock some sense into him! Overall a very enjoyable read, i will definitely read more from this author and have already purchased another of her books. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a bit of romance.

This is a very well written novel that I enjoyed reading very much.

It is a passionate journey about love, friendship, deceit and chicanery, and emotional anguish caused by the loss of someone who was loved deeply, but the passion of love may have been found out too late.
Sebastian is a 38-year-old confirmed bachelor, who is an attractive but arrogant man. Sebastian’s mother was fatally ill and made it known that her last wish was to see her only son and only living heir married before she died. Sebastian loved his mother and would do almost anything for her. But, his mother’s dying wish caused quite a dilemma for Sebastian, who was used to doing everything he wanted and doing it his way. He consults with the only person he could turn to, his solicitor, Dennis Burrows. He hatches up a plan to get a temporary wife that he could pay off after his mother dies. He consults with the only person he could turn to, his solicitor, Dennis Burrows.
Not giving away spoilers-this novel has everything a reader will want in a fascinating and interesting read.
Sold Into Marriage has twists and turns that oftimes happens in real life. Each page will keep you wanting to read more and more.

I would like to start this review by saying that I don’t like normal romance books. And yet-I was so engrossed in this book I couldn’t put it down.


Good points

The storyline was amazing! It was so well told, with each tiny titbit of information being unfurled for the reader slowly, but at a pace that kept you reading-I almost burned the dinner! The relationship between the characters was really wonderful, and you could feel them falling in love, and felt their despair as they grew apart towards the end. (But don’t worry, it has a happy ending!) The descriptions were wonderful as well, and the rooms were so vivid, I could practically feel the rich fabrics. The best part of this novel was the poetic language that the author used, really weaving the tale along.


Bad Points

Were there any bad points? It might be bad not to add any, but I really couldn’t think of any! The only bad point I can think of, (and it is a personal one) is that I got annoyed with Isabel for not being more angry with Sebastian at the end, but that’s because I’m far too argumentative for my own good, and she was far too lovely!


Overall

I thought it was a wonderful storyline, and it has just the right amount of romance, heartbreak and tragedy. You alternate between loving Sebastion, and hating Sebastion. I’ve got to admit I wanted to strangle Isabel at the end for not being more angry with him, but I guess that’s because I’m not as calm and lovely as she is!
This is a fantastic story, extremely well written, well thought out, and with wonderful characters that leap off the page. I’m sure that the author will go from strength to strength in her writing, and I can’t wait to see what she omces up with next!
I give this…5/5 stars!!!!

I was not sure when I first started reading this book, I don't know why really, maybe because I have not read romance for a long time. I've found the book an absolute joy to read. I mainly read on the way to work and back and it was very hard sometimes to stop reading to get off the bus. The relationship between Lord Sebastian and Isabel was very romantic with so many different angles and it was beautiful watching both characters growing more fond of eachother everyday. I've found Maxi Shelton very insightful into male psyche, it is not very often when one comes across a female writer who knows how a man thinks. Overall very entertaining and totally recommend.

The Bourbon Biscuit

The Bourbon Biscuit

Have you ever had that moment, when you enter your house and walk straight into the kitchen and find a full packet of bourbon biscuits?  

The world suddenly feels so much brighter.  They are amazing, I mean where else would you find a chocolate biscuit filled with chocolate cream?  It's even better when you see the biscuit barrel full of custard creams, and then there it is one bourbon biscuit at the very bottom of the barrel.  You feel as though you've struck gold.  It's moments like this when your parents find you dancing around the kitchen looking suspiciously like Golom saying "My precious!"

Also, when your mum is filling up the biscuit barrel and you are clocking every biscuits move.  Then she might casually walk out the room and you run; spy style of course, straight to the biscuits, grab one and leg it upstairs.  Aha yes... No-one saw a thing! 

But what I don't understand is, why did they make the custard cream?  I mean it doesn't make sense.  They always seem so inferior to the bourbon.  We already have a wonderful biscuit (and I've even been able to find dairy-free bourbons, so mum can enjoy them too).  So why would you ruin the dream biscuit with silly cheaper plain ones! I ask you?
